A native of South Carolina, Dr. Brown received his BS from Clemson University in 1989 and his MD from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1993. Following an internship in internal medicine at MUSC, he completed an internal medicine residency at Eisenhower Army Medical Center, where he was Chief of Medical Residents in 1996. Dr. Brown served on active duty as a Major in the United States Army from 1994-2000, when he returned to MUSC and completed a fellowship in rheumatology. He was an Associate Professor of Medicine at MUSC from 2002-2010, where he also served as Vice Chairman of Medicine for Medical Education. He maintains a faculty position at MUSC as a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine. He has published over 20 papers and book chapters and routinely speaks and lectures nationwide. He has served as President of the South Carolina Rheumatism Society, was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha National Honor Medical Society, and is listed in the “Best Doctors in America.” Dr. Brown is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology, and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Rheumatology. He joined Lowcountry Rheumatology in 2010.
