Brent A. Flickinger, M.D.

Dr. Flickinger grew up in Alpharetta Georgia. He attended the University of Georgia, where he graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in biology. He received his medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia. He then completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in rheumatology at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, most well known for scleroderma and lupus care and research. Upon completion of his fellowship in June of 2007, he moved to Gainesville to join Arthritis Center of North Georgia. He is married and has 3 children.

Dr. Flickinger is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both internal medicine and rheumatology. He is a member of the American College of Rheumatology and the Georgia Society of Rheumatology.

His clinical interests include rheumatoid arthritis, spondyarthropathies (psoriatic arthritis, anklyosing spondylitis, reactive arthritis, enteropathic arthritis), vasculitis, antiphospholipid syndrome, crystalline arthropathies (gout and psuedogout), and osteoporosis. He has a particular interest in the autoimmune connective tissue diseases (system lupus erythematosis, systemic sclerosis or scleroderma, dermatomyositis, polymyositis, mixed connective tissue disease and sjogren’s syndrome). He also participates in clinical trials.
