Raised outside of Chicago, Illinois, Dr. Jennifer Murphy graduated from Brown University in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science in neural sciences. She pursued her medical degree at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine, where she not only earned her degree but also completed her internal medicine residency.

Dr. Murphy's commitment to advancing her expertise led her to a fellowship in rheumatology at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Following her fellowship, she assumed the role of an instructor of medicine in the division of rheumatology at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston. During her four-year tenure, she held an academic appointment at Harvard Medical School, contributing to the education of medical students, residents and rheumatology fellows.

In 2006, Dr. Murphy made a move to Charleston, South Carolina becoming an assistant professor of medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina, maintaining this academic appointment until 2011. A prolific contributor to her field, she has been frequently published and holds board certification in Rheumatology.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Dr. Murphy finds joy spending quality time with her husband and two boys and has a passion for cooking.
