Marta T. Bognar, M.D.

Dr. Marta Bognar was born and raised in Hungary, where she completed her medical school summa cum laude at Semmelweis University of Medicine, the most prestigious medical university in the region. After spending the first five years of her career in internal medicine, she moved to Danbury, Connecticut, where she completed her residency at Danbury Hospital, which is affiliated with Yale University. Upon completion, she moved to Atlanta where she completed her rheumatology fellowship at Emory University. She then started her rheumatology career in Gainesville, in 1997, as part of Gainesville Internal Medicine. Shortly after, in 1999, she opened her own practice, which endures to this day.

Dr. Bognar is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in rheumatology. She is a member of the American College of Rheumatology, Georgia Society of Rheumatology where she has served on the executive board as president, Metro Atlanta Rheumatology Society, Medical Association of Georgia and Hall County Medical Society.

Her clinical interests include rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis, osteoporosis, lupus and other types of connective tissue diseases, vasculitis, antiphospholipid syndrome, and gout. She participates in clinical studies as well.

Dr. Bognar lives with her husband, Richard, in Gainesville, GA. They have one son. Her interests include reading, traveling, and music.
