Durga Adhikari, M.D.

Dr. Durga Dhoj Adhikari, a native of Nepal, earned his medical degree at the Manipal College of Medical Sciences in Nepal. Driven by a passion for learning and a commitment to excellence, he moved to the United States to pursue his advanced training. Dr. Adhikari completed his residency in internal medicine at Saint Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. To further specialize, Dr. Adhikari completed a fellowship in rheumatology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he honed his expertise in diagnosing and managing a wide range of rheumatic diseases.

After completing his fellowship in 2016, Dr. Adhikari served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at his alma mater. During his tenure, he was actively involved in clinical research, education, and mentoring medical students, residents and fellows, contributing significantly to the academic community. His role as an educator and clinician allowed him to stay at the forefront of advancements in rheumatology, ensuring that his patients receive the most current and effective treatments. Dr. Adhikari is board-certified in both internal medicine and rheumatology. In 2019, Dr. Adhikari moved to Charleston and joined Low Country Rheumatology. 

Outside of his professional life, Dr. Adhikari values spending quality time with his wife and daughter. He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys running, biking, and hiking. His commitment to health and wellness extends beyond his practice, as he believes in leading by example for his patients and community.
