Ian M. Ward, M.D.
Dr. Ian Ward joined the Augusta Arthritis Center in June of 2023 after completing a distinguished 13-year career in the U.S. Army, during which time he provided high quality rheumatologic care to servicemembers, family members and retirees. After completion of his bachelor’s degree at the University of Notre Dame, Dr. Ward received his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Rheumatology at the esteemed San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC).
His impactful journey includes a pivotal role as Chief of Rheumatology at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany, where he demonstrated exceptional leadership and care for his patients. Following this, he served at the Dwight D Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia, holding the position of Chief of Rheumatology and Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program.
Dr. Ward is board certified through the American Board of Internal Medicine in Rheumatology and holds prestigious fellowships with the American College of Physicians and the American College of Rheumatology. His clinical expertise spans a spectrum of conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, myositis, vasculitis, scleroderma, spondyloarthropathies and gout.
Outside of the practice, Dr. Ward finds joy in outdoor activities, such as biking the Central Savannah River Area, kayaking with his wife and kids and pursuing woodworking in his free time.
